Waking up this morning to the smell of a fire really got me thinking. Although thankfully the fires are far enough away from my home, I have smelled, seen, and heard of far too many fires this year in California alone. A person can’t look at one fire and blame it on global warming, but the overwhelming number of fires all over the state paired with the drought that we have been experiencing is evidence enough for me. But the extreme weather isn’t just in California, what about the floods caused by the Missouri River? The hurricanes, the heavy rains, droughts all over the world? I guess we were all hoping that society would catch on and we could change our practices and habits before we saw this undeniable trend in the weather patterns. It is now more important than ever for us to stop reacting to the natural disasters and start making major changes in the way we live and in our government’s policies.

Beautiful blog article.
I asked the editor of our California website if we could adda link to your article on our web page on California wildfires and climate change.
The link was added tonight — as the fires in Southern California rage on — November 16, 2008

Thanks for also providing 2 great links. I hope you don’t mind that we used one of the links on the fires page too. If you’d like, we can credit you as the person who found that link.
